Remarks addressing some issues concerning the responsibilities of the Bank of Canada such as the objectives of monetary policy, the prospective disappearance of banks' cash reserve requirements, the evolution of the relationship between monetary policy and public debt, and lastly the relationship between the Bank of Canada and the economics profession in Canada.
